What does a decision architect do?

A decision architect makes the structure of a hard decision visible: who has authority, which options are real, what constrains the choice, what must happen first, and which consequences follow. On this site, decision architecture describes part of the work rather than Stan's public business category.

The first move is a frame check. It separates the visible problem from the decision underneath it and names the result the owner is actually trying to create.

Next comes an authority check: who carries the call, who can block it, who must be heard, and who owns the consequences. An authority gap can make a decision look closed until the next consequence reopens it.

Then comes sequence. The work identifies which facts or decisions must come first, what becomes possible after this decision, and what staying open will cost. Writing that structure down makes the next move easier to evaluate.

A useful answer should not make the owner buy a new label. It should make the decision clearer. If the business needs help, choose the route by the real situation: one focused call, recurring 1:1 business work, or a larger quoted scope.

Make the decision structure visible

• Name the actual decision and the result it must create.
• Map authority, options, constraints, timing, cash, team movement, and the cost of delay.
• Choose coaching, consulting, or advisory by the work required; decision architecture is the structure used inside that work.
